Written by Editor on October 30th, 2009

For many persons, a good enough purpose for their site may be to syndicate their views to the world. But for most others, there are some simple ways to turn your site into a cash-cow. The process today is quite elementary for anyone interested in making a few extra dollars.

You can set up a blog using free software like Wordpress, but if it doesn’t quite meet your requirements, you can use a company that specializes in open source customization.

One can start by advertising on their blog, with Google’s AdSense or BlogAds, among many other services. Assess your social network website’s viewers and you can aim for specific ads accordingly, that would be of interest to your visitors. Google is gratis, but BlogAds charges a cut after linking you to the proper advertiser.

Another method to spread the word about your blog is on social networking sites. Many people have a lot of followers and when you post a link, it can give a large temporary traffic boost.

You can also use your website as a medium for other commercial web presences such as Amazon.com to promote their merchandise. Many businesses provide this facility. All you need to do is mention merchandise or services like perhaps, your skills in open source customization, in your blog and then that key phrase can be linked to the 3rd party website where the reader can then buy the item on his own, giving you a commission in the process.

Another way that never goes wrong is to solicit on your website. Most web developers and webmasters ask visitors or guests to kindly offer whatever they can through PayPal or other means, thus making it safe, and up to the user to decide how much they believe the website is worth to them. You’d be surprised how many folks out there don’t object to donating a few bucks, and how that can total up.

Use the blog to promote your own services and/or merchandise too. Be sincere in your writing about anyhing you wish to give an opinion on, but don’t overlook somehow link it to what you have to offer as well. Leverage the best features of your merchandise in the process of sharing with the visitor about other options out there. Work in casual references to your products so the visitor doesn’t suspect the main purpose of the article is to sell your product, but only to share them on the side that such a product exists and is somehow of relevance to this subjectwhich they are already thinking about.

Once your family of blogs increases, you may wish to hire a web development company who can help manage, maintain and customize your sites, maybe even bringing in community features like groups, events and forums.

Finally, take advantage of your blog to create relationships with your readers and potential clients. The associations you can create could feel personal to them since you really post those articles yourself, and they can easily contact get in touch with you through the site. They will be more inclined to trust your recommendations as time goes on and thus purchase your products, or at the minimum think about it anyway.
