Intermittent Fasting for Health Benefits The Body
Are you at present fasting for health benefits? I know from from my own experience when men and women think of not eating food they usually think about or deprivation. Abstaining from food isn’t anything we spontaneously do because food is so plentiful and who would wantto give up all the scrumptious sweets that are available to us? It takes a lot for an individual to just simply say “I desire to abstain from food today” because we have been trained we need four things in life to survive. Those four things are oxygen, drinking water, shelter, and of course food to eat! So, it makes it very difficult to modify our mindset to give up food in order to know the wonderful health benefits it offers. But…was it always like that?
Some years ago, our ancestors and forefathers frequently abstained from food just because they had to as they did not have grocery stores where they could get food off racks and put it into their shopping basket. It just was not like that so whatever they ate in most circumstances had to be trapped or picked and they could go for long periods of time without capturing or picking anything. See, if you had to hunt or pick your food you could fall into periods of time where you just cannot entrap or find things to eat. It’s just how things go. I’ve encountered this myself where I’ve had the best intentions of going out to catch fish and after fishing for 4 or five hours on the fishing boat, all I’m left with are cans of worms and a tan. You just come up empty sometimes but unlike my ancestors, I have the the convenience of being able to walk into a grocery store and buy the fish I didn’t catch a couple of hours ago. It just wasn’t like this for our ancestors so if they did not trap or pick anything to consume they would have to fast until they were able to finally find meals. I bet if you could take a snap shot of what they looked like back then, not one of them would be heavy. You can’t say that at this present time, now can you?
There is some tremendous evidence why you may want to start fasting for health benefits and I thought I would discuss some of them for you right now. Most of these are scientific but some of them are things I’ve discovered from my own real life experience with abstaining from food on a consistent basis.
1. Reduced Insulin levels and decreased insulin sensitivity – Most people today have high insulin levels as a result of the elevated amounts of sweets they’re consuming. White sugar and high fructose corn syrup are in most perishable goods today which was never heard of in past years. This is one of the most significant reasons why there is a diabetes epidemic in America because with the increase of sugar, the pancreas has to produce more and more insulin to force blood sugar levels down. This usually results in insulin sensitivity which can turn into diabetes and being overweight. Abstaining from food helps increase the normalizing of insulin levels in the our bodies.
2.Boost in Growth Hormone Levels – Abstaining from food helps to raise growth hormone levels. This is really important if you want to generate more muscle, feel better and look younger than you are. It’s the natural way to do it without using artificial hormones.
3. Digestive System – Fasting for short periods of time gives your digestive system time off and can also cut down gas and bloating in the body. It can also get rid of constipation.
4. Cleansing the Body – By starting a fast, you can cleanse the body’s lymphatic system which will give you restored mental attentiveness and focus. This is one of the main reasons why starting a fast has been related to higher awareness.
5. Hypertension – Abstaining from food is a great way to reduce hypertension.
6. Food addiction – Many folks are addicted to food in our society. We are bombarded with food at social events, work, and everywhere else. Fasting is a great tool to help manage the compulsiveness to eat for no reason. This has been a big help to me personally to prevent unnecessary eating when I am not hungry.
7. Decreased Body Fat Levels and Weight – You can strategically use abstaining from food to drop body fat and get to the weight you desire.
8. Energy – Abstaining from food can give you more vitality! It may sound crazy but I’ve experienced this myself when I’ve felt like I caught my second wind after going on a fast for an short period of time.
9. Longer Life – In more recent studies, people who intermittent fast on a regular basis live a longer life.
Bonus – Decrease in Excess Weight – You can use fasting as a way to splurge on your eating. I recently used this during the Thanksgiving holiday as I didn’t eat for part of the day and when it was time to partake of dinner, I ate what I wanted without worrying about putting on any excess weight!
Abstaining from food for really short periods used to be considered a weird thing to do, but judging by the way our modern society is looking today it can be considered the correct thing to do to take care of your health. has been sitting right under our noses for years but no one ever saw it as a way to increase health and vitality. Most of the time the answers are easy but society complicates them as a means to maximize profit and keep most people confused. Always keep things hassle-free and one way to do this is to start going on a fast for health and wellness benefits.
